Maui!!!
We (Vadim, Talia, Cole, David, Irina [Vadim's parents]) went to Maui for a fun 8 day trip in the middle of August. So what did we do there?
Cole took his first flight

Learned how to sit in a high chair

We swam with turtles

Enjoyed sunsets

Took hikes

And enjoyed a drink or two

Here's the rest of the album:

Mr. Incredible!
Last night Cole slept for 8 hours straight!!I don't know if it was the trip to Barnes & Noble to look at all the books or the really long bath but, whatever it was I want to repeat it each night. He is really turning out to be a great little dude!
This was the first time since he was born that I slept for 6 hours straight. Yey!

Toothpaste?
So about 1 month ago, Irina was staying with us and went to brush her teeth in the morning. She saw a tube of toothpaste and thought to herself "Oh how nice. Talia and Vadim got some toothpaste for this bathroom." So she tried it and it was actually Desitin (aka Butt Paste).
Yesterday we gave Cole a bath and he had a little rash so we brought the Desitin into our bathroom. I was brushing my teeth and it took about 30 seconds for me to figure out that my "toothpaste" wasn't foaming up. I looked at the tube and yes... I also brushed my teeth with Desitin but, unlike Irina, it took me a long time to figure it out. Why don't they make the tube a bright pink color?

The first Cold
Ohh this week was so tough ... little Cole had a big cold. With every sneeze, his body shook and every cough was horrible. The worst part is that he cannot blow his nose so with each breathe, there was a loud weezing sound reminding you that your little boy is sick.
The good news is that the worst has seemed to pass and he has been sleeping a lot. The doctor warned us that this would happen 5-6 times a year. I don't want him to go through this again!

All good things are worth waiting for...
Well, I hope that age old adage is true since ... We just closed on our FIRST HOUSE!!!
After spending 2 years looking in South Bay and an additional 2 years looking in Culver City/Westside, we finally had an accepted offer on a house in November! 5 months later it is officially ours. Hopefully it won't take another 5 months to move it but it might considering all the work that is going to be done to it.
This was the first home that both Vadim and I liked. Previously it was a series of only one of us liking the home. So it is good that this is the one that won out!
We are adding on 300+ square feet and completely redoing bathrooms and kitchens. The good part is that it will be exactly what we want (hopefully) and that when we eventually go to sell people don't say what we said when we were looking for homes: "Oh this is a terrible remodel."
The good news is that each time we go into the house we like it more. We like the area and the feel - it just feels like home.
We will be posting pictures of the "before" soon -- then you will see the transformation.

Flower Power
Yesterday we had an outing to the LA Arboretum. We went with our play group and had tons of fun walking around and taking in the 85 degree weather in the middle of March. So it was a few firsts:
1. First time I breastfed in "public" - and I didn't get any comments or dirty looks
2. First time a whole bunch of tourists thought Cole was cuter then the flowers
3. First time Cole had a picnic and felt the wind rushing through his hair
4. First time Cole almost rolled over and first time I started playing the comparison game -- So we were laying on the blanket and the other babies were having tummy time so I put Cole on his tummy. Much to my surprise, he almost rolled over. He pushed against the ground and almost rolled over. All the other moms were so shocked (especially since Cole is the youngest). Even though I was shocked as well, I played it cool and said "Oh yeah, he does that sometimes." Bad Talia!
It was a great day!
